The world
I can hear the click of his dress shoes beyond the bedroom door. The man my father assigned to stand guard. In exactly one week, I'll be sent back to the main estate, stripped of all my rights, and locked away. Yet he stands there like an iron chain, guarding my door twenty-four hours a day. Every time I open it to escape, the hand that catches my wrist is so searingly hot I can't force my feet to move. He's just a hound ordered to watch me, yet on the day my father raised a hand to strike me, he stepped in the way. He took a beating that tore his back open, only to look at me with a smile in his eyes. I have to find out what his hidden orders are, and just how deep his obsession with me runs, before the doors of this mansion close on me forever.

The opening scene
